Accidental Accomplishments!

ugh!

i hate when i accidentally draw something good, haha!

like, if it's an assignment, i keep messing up...

...but if i'm doodling on the side of my math homework,

i'll draw something amazing!

...it just ends up on the wrong sheet of paper!

i was in the middle of reading my summer reading book,

and was curious if i could even draw less manga-looking people.

the only time i have been able to was when i drew my self portait,

but i had a picture to go off of.

this was just to see how all the elements of the human face

that i've taught myself how to draw would look

together on a face.

but sometimes, even then, i mess up the hair or the facial structure.

but i didn't on my notebook doodle!

i was planning on doing a picture like the one i drew above

on my planner collage,

but i'm still gonna use it on there.

i really love it though.

sometimes accidents can work out just fine.

New Addition: Trapped in My Closet

i decided to make a weekly, "item of the week" type post. and i'd display things i find in my closet or on/in my shelves. this week, i'm show-casing: my feather headband!

i bought it @ Target in the clearance rack; $7 i'm pretty sure. once i get my hair down, i can't wait to wear it! i wanted a feather headband that reminded me an owl (since i love all things owl) and was a bit more subtle than the HUGE feather handbands...

i personally really love it though! i'm surprised i haven't seen anyone that i can remember @ school with a feather headband on before....and my school has 3,400 kids in it!

so you're always seeing something of yours on someone else.

but i really love it though, glad it's mine!

Oookaaay...

so i forgot to write about this dream i had two night ago, but i had a semi-normal dream for once!

i usually have them and they make no sense what-so-ever, but this time, the beginning made sense @ least...sorta, haha.

so it started with me performing in a orchestra concert...except i was playing the cello (i play the viola). and my stand partner was this boy from choir...who's not in orchestra...

so anyway, he and i were waiting for the rest of the orchestra to finish up, so we could play in the next song. and while we were, the boy from choir class started changing the music....

...like, he took an Xbox remote and the sheet music notes and title would change. not only that, but the background of the notes and title would light up like fiber optic lights everytime he would "change channels".

i think i was too mesmerized to tell him to turn back to the proper music. it was pretty dim during the concert afterall, and so the lights stood out more. that's all i remember before waking up, haha.

it was weird though...pretty, but weird.

Heads Up!

i cannot believe that we might actually be getting a dog later this year! it will be a yorkie. the family that is offering us the puppy just told us saturday that they were expecting a litter. i'm not trying to get my hopes up too high though...
but i can't hide the fact that i am excited! it's actually tangible now. my mom and i looked at the dog stuff @ target and it just feels so different now that were serious about it.
we're praying about it and that everything goes smoothly.
cross your fingers for us!

FINALLY: Mary Ellen Mark

i don't know if this has ever happened to anyone else, but during a photography project, i just couldn't stop researching...

we had to do a bio on a photographer, and i decided to do mine on Mary Ellen Mark i was trying to remember her name and it was killing me that i couldn't remember it...

...so i found my project on this computer haha.

her photography was based on emotionalism, and i just couldn't get enough of her stories or photography!

here's a copy and paste of my summary about her:

"Mary Ellen Mark came from an unstable family and had a father who went in and out of the hospital all the time. Life for her was lonely and isolated; by age eight, she told herself she was getting out. Later in her life, her father was put into a mental institution for depression, which made Mark’s interest for mentally ill people grow. Soon, Mark would be handed a full scholarship to Annenberg School for Communication (at a unit of Penn). She greatly thanks Gilbert Seldes (first Dean of Penn) for the scholarship and remembers two great teachers from the school that influenced her. Lou Glessman who taught visual communications and Lou Barlow who taught TV.
A photographer who is considered a photojournalist and portraitist captured homelessness, loneliness, drug addiction, and prostitution all behind her lens did it in a form of Emotionalism. World events that many people aren’t aware of, but Mark helped to raise awareness for. She liked taking pictures of teens best because their emotions were so transparent. Even though she bonded with the people she photographed, a child prostitute and drug addict named “Tiny” was a 13-year-old girl Mark thought about adopting. to me, it's so brave to be face-to-face w/an interest like she does...

like any photographer does...

and get sooo close to their subjects during such hard times

Busy, Busy, Bus-Oooh the Colors....

as i sit here and drink my Maxwell French Roast (the type of roast for me, that gave me my ephihany to why people drink two or more cups of coffee a day) and wish for a Long doughnut, i realize that i have a lot running through my mind- A LOT.

i woke up from this weird dream i had (will explain in a later post). and then soon after that, i kept coming up w/new ideal additions to my blog (have filled up a whole sheet of paper w/ideas). also, i've been thinking of another very minor dilemma i was having...

...how and where to start w/my collage for my planner, haha!

i drew a picture yesterday-one of those i wanna doodle for the heck of it drawings-and i think i'll color it in as best i can and put it in my collage. then i decided i wanted to draw a jones soda bottle on my collage...which got my mind racing AGAIN about how much i love jones soda (ooh! another blog topic!) hold on...

then how i haven't done a set on polyvore.com in a minute dispite my love for putting outfits together...how the simple things in life make me soo happy like:

and headed to his house to chill and play videogames, eat, and watch "Grand Torino".

it turned out really fun!

so of course i lost-BUT i won ONCE @ the end

then we kept messing each other up during Skeet in Sonic and Mario Olympics,

Back! Review: Benefit's High Beam

soooo...

about Benefit's High Beam...

it's GREAT!

i wasn't really seeing the big deal @ first.

(it is my mom's afterall...)

so i asked to borrow some for the day,

and mixed it w/my foundation

[Neutrogena SkinClearing oil-free makeup]

and not only did it give me subtle shimmer

that made my face look dewey...

but it also evened-out the

"ashy-ness"

of my foundation!

i really liked my Neutrogena foundation

(name above)

and it was reeeeally close to my shade...

the only problem was that it didn't have those golden undertones

like my skin has.

so it looked a tad ashy.

then i added the High Beam...

and viola!

it matches my skin now-

AND inhances it!

go out to sephora and try it out!

you can always take it back if you don't like it...

which i'd doubt you'd do!

haha!

Body Jewelry: My Anti-Drug

we went to Spencers in the mall today.

and i had to look

@ the navel barbels.

there were soo many!

in so many designs and patterns...

i wanted them all personally, lol.

but then, i saw

a HUGE variety of

labret jewelry.

oh man.

one of many reasons

now to get my lip pierced!

i'm so hyped about it now.

I Love the 20s

flappers

caught my attention when we were talking about the 1920s era.

i loved how free women made themselves.

running away from the sterotypical, "women's role".

a beautiful thing.

i liked a lot about that era.

and not just the fact that the women wore shorter dresses,

short hair cuts,

smoked if they wabted,

hung out in bars,

and danced "wildly"

@ their own.

but scat,

the dirty-lyrics of singers

and scat

like Cab Calloway.

Just the era itself was

amazing to me.

i recently learned

that highlighter is used for

highlighting the dark areas of your face

(ex. dark under eye circles)

or for a day look, mix it in w/your moisturizer

and apply all over your face.

or mix it in w/your foundation.

otherwise, if you'd like, apply and dab into:

tops of apples of your cheeks

brow bones

any place you want to contour.

i like fashion basics as much as the next girl...

but the only celeb who's look i really admire is

her look now, compared to when she first began singing...

is 100% better!

her tattoos remind me of Angelina Jollie.

Clinque's Black Honey

the color may be scary-looking...

but it's a miracle-worker!

it looks dark in the tube,

but when almost anyone puts it on,

it becomes a subtle shade that compliments

any natural lip shade

and any skin-tone.

wheter you have gold undertones,

or blue.

the color can be fitting on you.

[haha, i rhymed]

i love it though.

sometimes, it's not moisturizing enough,

so i'll put a little clear chapstick or gloss on first.

it wouldn't hurt for anyone to go to their nearest mall and try it out!

i'm glad i did!

Mac and Cheese Blues are Gone!

i love mac and cheese as much as the next person...

but the best non-homemade mac and cheese i've had

were frozen packets from Market Day.

you'd just cut slits in the pack,

place it in a bowl,

and microwave it.

and there ya go!

but i can't get those anymore.

now, i just use the boxed kind,

but since that's not always the cheeseiest

i did two little tricks to make it taste better:

1. add Lactaid 2% milk (lactose inntolerant milk basically) instead of regular 2% milk


2. use a little less than 3 tablespoons of butter (so it won't be so water-y)

it makes mine taste better!

and comes out looking like this!

Who Says Fashion and Piercings Can't Be Used in the Same Sentence??

i've been debating wheter or not to get my

lip pierced.

a lower labret like in the picture.

nice and dainty.

and i'm thinking more and more that i want it.

for my 18th birthday.

it'll be my tester.cause the one i'd really want is

my medusa pierced.

i also like angle bites...

...but i don't think they'd work on me.

i don't place sterotypes on people

unless i know them.

but i DO believe that sterotypes exsist.

i must say though, most of it is on point!

they can be so annoying and ugggggh...

Dale Chihuly: Master Glass-Blower

in our children's museum.

it was really neat.

i had to ask my teacher first cause no one had ever done their project on Chihuly

and i learned quite a bit about him.

googling his work was fascinating!

he's lived a loooong life coming from the bottom and getting to the top.

so many potholes to get through in his path of life.

but anyway his work is striking!

whether it resembles something or not.

it's an honor to have some of his work installed into our city.

he goes all around the world having his team build his image.

it really is his true love.

he lost vision in one eye in a car crash i'm sure,

but he still works and guides people to build what is consisted within his inner thoughts.

i'd highly advise you to google his art.

Whole Chris Brown Mayhem

in my opinon, i don't care much for chris brown anymore. i saw him do an apology on tv and i'm not buying it. i know the saying, "better late than never", but it's...eh.

believe me, i loved his music and how he respected women-he was my little teen idol and i looked up to him.

but after what he did to rihanna...i just don't know.

to me, it looked like he sucked up too much in the beginning and acted like nothing happened a day or two after it all went down.

i look @ them both as human beings; i don't pick sides due to "which artist is better". i look @ the whole picture.

i've heard during the BET awards that jay-z kept him from doing his MJ tribute, and i, for one, am happy he did. as well as beyonce joining w/him and saying they wouldn't preform if he did.

it's like giving a spoiled brat what he wants when he REALLY doesn't deserve it.
i don't care how much MJ did chis justice, to me he didn't learn his lesson and didn't desrve that honor.

now, TMZ spotted him @ beyonce's concert after she dissed him during the BET awards...and now this "apology".

i'm sorry, but i'm not buying it. and not only that, but when i mention that or see people commenting on the matter, i see girls saying that, "chris brown is still my hubby." or "that b**** deserved it"...really?? so i can see YOU wouldn't mind getting pimp-slapped and running back to your man.

i have heard girls in my class talk about times their boyfriends hit 'em like it was nothing.
smiling, laughing...like they were talking about a recent trip to the mall.

if you girls out there that are sticking up for chris brown just on the meer fact that you think that, "the b**** deserved it"...even if she hit him, you girls need to gain some dignity.
you know guys hit MUCH harder than girls-he's the one who lost control and went insane.
