NYLON Summer Playlist '09

i love NYLON for so many reasons...

one of them, is for giving away 22 free songs on itunes.

of course, the first thing i thought was, "what's the catch??"

but there's nothing to it except having itunes!

which is free to download!

so i've had these songs for a month or so now on my ipod

and i love almost all of them!

okay, so here's what i think of the songs:

• ANJULIE - Boom...reminds you of some funky blues that you can dance to but has an awesome bass/beat
• CRYSTAL ANTLERS - Andrew...i remember i like this song-very different but good!
• GAY BLADES - O Shot..a cool rock song that makes ya wanna tape the rhythm on your steering wheel while you drive and listen
• HEARTS REVOLUTION - Ultraviolence...i didn't like it-i have no clue what she says in the song...
• LaROUX - In For The Kill...she has this other song called bulletproof and i like that one as well as this one; this song sounds technical and semi-trippy
• LISSY TRULLIE - Self Taught Learner...mellow
• LITTLE BOOTS - Meddle (Ebola Remix)...a jumble of pop mashed together cutely
• MAPEI - Public Enemy...once again different that'll grow on ya
• OF MONTREAL - For Our Elegant Caste...my FAVORITE song of this group; i always sing along to it and it's a new sound but very upbeat!
• PASSION PIT - I've Got Your Number...a beat to drum along to and it's a bit more easy-going
• PHOENIX - 1901...another favorite; just good tunes and a memorable beat
• PLASTISCINES - Barcelona...up there next to "Of Montreal"!; def. a summer beat
• SANTIGOLD - LES Artistes...she's different in general-the song's okay...
• SPINNERETTE - Ghetto Love...more like "rock of love" this song makes you feel rough and "good" grundgey-like a biker!
• STARDEATH AND WHITEDWARFS - I Can't Get Away..a more mellow, but upbeat song
• SUCKERS - It Gets Your Body Movin'...sounds like a drunk salior song
• THE HORRORS - Sea Within a Sea...eh...it's okay
• THE PAINS OF BEING PURE AT HEART - The Tenure Itch...not bad;50/50
• THE SOFT PACK - Bright Side...another fav.; a summer song
• THUNDERHEIST - Jerk It...a underground club song but it gets catchy too
• TINY MASTERS OF TODAY - Skeletons...ANOTHER favorite;it get stuck in your head;bob-your-head beat
• WHITE LIES - Death (Crystal Castles Remix)...not bad, but not the best either...

get a hold of these songs and make your own opinion!

Turning a New Blogspot Leaf

in the past, i tried avoiding blogspot

because it reminded me too much of my 6X spanish class.

we had to use blogspot to disscuss, "La Dama del Alba".

a book entirely in spanish.

don't get me wrong, the book was awesome

and the blogspot community of my former classmates helped a ton,

but being on blogspot to personally blog

seemed too much of a chore after using it for spanish, ya know?

so i tried livejournal, then freewebs...

but just gave up and joined the blogspot bandwagon.

everyone else is here,

so why not?

i'm just gonna go the lazy american route and join the club.

that way, i can comment on my friend's blogs and subscribe

waaaay easier this way.

a genius idea, i know hahaha!

anywho, i've found three awesome foodfinds over the past few weeks.

ya know, in places where you'd least expect it?

now, i'm no health nut,

but i do like the occasional snack or treat.

and i don't mean those overly-done "KRAZEE KIDZ KANDY!!" type treats...

where glow-in-the-dark cheese curls are suspposed to tickle your fancy.

or gel candy that you squeeze from a tube, onto a twizzler-bristled pez candied toothbrush that is suspposed to resemble brushing your teeth but is really suspposed to resemble fun while obtaining cavaties.

@ least that's what i think.

of course an eight year old wouldn't.

you know what type of weird junk food i'm talking about, right?

but anyway, i don't go that far when it comes to occasional snacks.

i like them more simple than my examples above, haha.

so my family wanted church's chicken,

and i hate church's chicken.

so i decided to try their new corndogs.

and of course i expected the worst:

soggy breading, nast hot dog, etc...

but it was yummy!

the coating was crunchy, hot dog was good, and it was sort of sweet too.

i also went and tried what my dad recommended @ pizza hut-

their apple pies...

and THOSE were yummy!

nice and warm, gooey filling w/just enough apple, they were bite-sized

and the crust was fried for an extra crunch...

i think the cinnamon sugar coating ontop of the crust was a bit much...

but i lived.

also, long john silver's is another, "eh...i'll pass"

fast foodery for me, but their lobsterbites are SOO yummy!

if you want sea food (as they claim it is) then get the lobster bites.

i dont know if it IS lobster, but it tastes like it,

and if you eat it in moderation, that's all that matters.

oh! and it's uber buttery tasting AND smelling.

SO good...

mmmm...

okay, i'm done haha!
i'm making myself hungy!
