and i'm really hyped to see it!

i'm usually skeptical w/"horror" movies,
cause they're NEVER scary
@ all.

just either really gorey
and/or really corny.

but i've been hearing a lot of good about "The Orphan"!
both on facebook,
and i even checked yahoo's reviews of it.
pretty good...

Back! Review: Benefit's High Beam

soooo...
about Benefit's High Beam...
it's GREAT!
i wasn't really seeing the big deal @ first.
(it is my mom's afterall...)
so i asked to borrow some for the day,
and mixed it w/my foundation
[Neutrogena SkinClearing oil-free makeup]
and not only did it give me subtle shimmer
that made my face look dewey...
but it also evened-out the
"ashy-ness"
of my foundation!
i really liked my Neutrogena foundation
(name above)
and it was reeeeally close to my shade...
the only problem was that it didn't have those golden undertones
like my skin has.
so it looked a tad ashy.
then i added the High Beam...
and viola!
it matches my skin now-
AND inhances it!
go out to sephora and try it out!
you can always take it back if you don't like it...
which i'd doubt you'd do!
haha!

Body Jewelry: My Anti-Drug

ooooh mannn...
we went to Spencers in the mall today.
and i had to look
@ the navel barbels.
there were soo many!
in so many designs and patterns...

i wanted them all personally, lol.
but then, i saw
a HUGE variety of
labret jewelry.
oh man.

one of many reasons
now to get my lip pierced!
i'm so hyped about it now.

body jewelry is one of the
best parts when getting piercings!

He's a Little Bit Hip Hop...She's a Little Bit Rock N' Roll

i love music collaborations!
i thought about them earlier this summer
and they're really something to enjoy.
it's like a moment of sharing
two different worlds
in the music industry
decide
to come together.
anytime two great things decide to come together,
it makes me all warm and fuzzy inside.
here are some collaborations i came up with:
  • Areosmith & Run DMC-Walk This Way
  • Jay-Z & Linkin Park- Numb/Encore
  • Jamie Foxx feat. T-Pain, Snoop Dog, Travis Barker- Blame It (BET Awards version)
  • Mims feat. Purple Popcorn- This is Why I Rock

i know there's plenty more.

name a few if you can!

and how do you like colaborations??

I Love the 20s

flappers

caught my attention when we were talking about the 1920s era.

i loved how free women made themselves.

running away from the sterotypical, "women's role".

a beautiful thing.

i liked a lot about that era.

and not just the fact that the women wore shorter dresses,

short hair cuts,

smoked if they wabted,

hung out in bars,

and danced "wildly"

@ their own.

but scat,

the dirty-lyrics of singers

and scat

like Cab Calloway.

Just the era itself was

amazing to me.

Benefit's High Beam

i recently learned
that highlighter is used for
highlighting the dark areas of your face
(ex. dark under eye circles)

or for a day look, mix it in w/your moisturizer
and apply all over your face.

or mix it in w/your foundation.
otherwise, if you'd like, apply and dab into:
tops of apples of your cheeks
brow bones
any place you want to contour.

i'll try it out tomorrow
and tell you guys how it is!

The EASIEST Non-Cut Bang

i felt soooo stupid
when i saw this video on how to fake a
fringe bang.
i was looking for ways to
do a faux bang
w/o cutting my hair.
ya know, to test it out before actually getting my hair cut?
and this is the best video i've ever found on it!
makes me feel idiotic, haha.

Rihanna's Got It!

i like fashion basics as much as the next girl...
black dress
tights
a pair of high heels...
but the only celeb who's look i really admire is
Rihanna's.
her look now, compared to when she first began singing...
is 100% better!

i love how edgy she looks

and how she's not afriad to stand out.
her tattoos remind me of Angelina Jollie.
they're sexy just like hers.
i'd like to obtain her look someday.

i know there are other rebel-lookers
like Pink and Fergie.
but i don't know...i just really like
Rihanna's look.

there are fashion basics...
and then, to me, there are
edgy basics...

  • bright, dark, metalic nail polishes (make patterns if you'd like!)...wal-mart $3; ulta/sephora $8
  • skinny jeans (in all sorts of colors if you can)...JC Penny/Char. Russe/Pac Sun/etc $20-$50
  • a good black mascara (CG's Lashblast)...wal-mart $6
  • a good liner (i have the perfect waterline liner on my livejournal blog)...sephora $40 pot&brush
  • baggy knitted cap (for bad hair days)...target/forever21 $10-$15
  • bandanas (fun accessories)...wal-mart $5
  • studded belt/bracelet/neclace...target $13
  • leather jacket...wet seal $40
  • strappy high heels...you find 'em!

For More Fashion...

don't forget
i wrote some in my old blog.
tips and fashion wants.
all i remember writting about were
some cloud converse and Dr. Martens.

Clinque's Black Honey

the color may be scary-looking...
but it's a miracle-worker!
it looks dark in the tube,
but when almost anyone puts it on,
it becomes a subtle shade that compliments
any natural lip shade
and any skin-tone.
wheter you have gold undertones,
or blue.
the color can be fitting on you.
[haha, i rhymed]
i love it though.
sometimes, it's not moisturizing enough,
so i'll put a little clear chapstick or gloss on first.
it wouldn't hurt for anyone to go to their nearest mall and try it out!
i'm glad i did!

Mac and Cheese Blues are Gone!

i love mac and cheese as much as the next person...
but the best non-homemade mac and cheese i've had
were frozen packets from Market Day.
you'd just cut slits in the pack,
place it in a bowl,
and microwave it.
and there ya go!
but i can't get those anymore.

now, i just use the boxed kind,
but since that's not always the cheeseiest
i did two little tricks to make it taste better:

  1. add Lactaid 2% milk (lactose inntolerant milk basically) instead of regular 2% milk

  2. use a little less than 3 tablespoons of butter (so it won't be so water-y)

it makes mine taste better!

and comes out looking like this!

Who Says Fashion and Piercings Can't Be Used in the Same Sentence??

i've been debating wheter or not to get my
lip pierced.

a lower labret like in the picture.
nice and dainty.

and i'm thinking more and more that i want it.
for my 18th birthday.

it'll be my tester.cause the one i'd really want is
my medusa pierced.

i also like angle bites...

...but i don't think they'd work on me.

i've always imaged myself w/my lip ring in fashionable clothes...

-going to the Cheesecake Factory w/a black bubble dress and charcoal-colored earrings

-the mall w/ripped jeans and a tube top

why not be pretty and pierced??

Glover!

i'd definitely call myself a Nintendo fan.
i've always loved Nintendo!
i've had my gameboy color, gameboy advanced, the gamecube...
and now i have my original DS and my Wii.
but think back...
does anyone recall Glover??
i loved that game!
it was on the N64.
cross-stich's laugh used to give me goosebumps!
hahaha!

My Inner Child Says...

it wants thick [colorful] knitted mittens like these.
to go with a new coat i'll need this fall/winter.

my old baby phat coat has had it- it's about 6yrs old!

those mittens would go perfectly with a coat like this:

a sophistiacted double-breasted coat like this one

reminds me of that French girl, Madeline.

like something she'd wear.

Some Good Comes Out of Summer Reading

"....she put her arms around me
and felt my shoulder blades,
to see if my wings were strong,
she said.
'The bird that would soar above the level
plain of tradition and prdjudice
must have stong wings.
It is a sad spectacle to see the wealkings
bruised, exhausted,
fluttering back to earth.' "

"Gunmetal"

it's the name of the nail polish

i said i'd use earlier in my blog.

looks like its name- "gunmetal".

i think it's really pretty...

you like?

it was about $3 @ Wal-Mart.

share the love!

Do You Remember...?

your childhood pets??
i tried to earlier today!
i've wanted a dog forever...
and still do!
in my past, i've owned:
3 hamsters, 2 parakeets, sea monkeys, fish, an Aqua Babies frog and snail, a bunny, 2 praying mantis, 2 hermit crabs...
...and now, i have my beautiful lutino/fischer's mix lovebird
named Zoey!
she's a spunky little thing,
and i love her so much.
wouldn't trade her for the world.

HAHAHA...Ghetto Girls

i don't place sterotypes on people
unless i know them.
but i DO believe that sterotypes exsist.
here's a pretty harsh discription of "ghetto girls" from urbandictionary.com
i must say though, most of it is on point!
a lot of it i'm not looking forward to seeing
and being witnessed to when i go back to school.
they can be so annoying and ugggggh...
WHEN, they act out their sterotypes.
URBAN DICTIONARY'S DEF. for "GHETTO GIRL"
A female who acts and looks ghetto. Ghetto chicks usually have gold teeth, start fights and drama, and wear cheap clothes - they consider Baby Phat to be high class and expensive couture. They also have short, nappy hair, and usually wear cheap weave, usually in bad colors, such as purple or bright red. They look and act similar to Shenaynay, and speak very loudly, while rolling their neck, and waving their finger in your face. Ghetto chicks have a very limited vocabulary, and attempt to make up for it, by forming new words, such as "constipulated", or simply cursing persistently, or using other types of vulgarities, and making noises, such as "hmmg!", or smacking their lips, and making other angry noises, grunts, and faces. Many ghetto chicks drive a raggedy car, and play vulgar rap music very loudly, with the windows rolled down, even on Sunday afternoons. They also often have lots of kids, by lots of different men, one or more of which is serving time...Ghetto chicks also think it looks classy to get super long acrylic nails, with jewels and designs on them, sometimes even wearing their toenails the same way. ..Most ghetto girls are very jealous and dramatic, and will fight at any time, for any small reason. ..Ghetto chicks are often aggressive, have no manners, and no home training. They will often steal, and commit violent acts as well. You should not threaten, or offend, or even look a ghetto chick directly in the eyes, unless you know you can defend yourself in a fight, possibly even involving a weapon. Ghetto chicks should be avoided at all times, if at all possible. Your best bet is to stay on the good side of town, stay out of the projects, and stay away from the welfare office and the Korean owned beauty supply stores that sell cheap, purple weave.
i know, "dag"...
...thanks urbandictionary!

Dale Chihuly: Master Glass-Blower

in our children's museum.

it was really neat.

i had to ask my teacher first cause no one had ever done their project on Chihuly

and i learned quite a bit about him.

googling his work was fascinating!

he's lived a loooong life coming from the bottom and getting to the top.

so many potholes to get through in his path of life.
but anyway his work is striking!
whether it resembles something or not.

it's an honor to have some of his work installed into our city.
he goes all around the world having his team build his image.
it really is his true love.

he lost vision in one eye in a car crash i'm sure,
but he still works and guides people to build what is consisted within his inner thoughts.

i'd highly advise you to google his art.

or check out his website:
i'm sure you'll @ the least whisper out an, "oooh...".

Whole Chris Brown Mayhem

in my opinon, i don't care much for chris brown anymore. i saw him do an apology on tv and i'm not buying it. i know the saying, "better late than never", but it's...eh.

believe me, i loved his music and how he respected women-he was my little teen idol and i looked up to him.

but after what he did to rihanna...i just don't know.

to me, it looked like he sucked up too much in the beginning and acted like nothing happened a day or two after it all went down.

i look @ them both as human beings; i don't pick sides due to "which artist is better". i look @ the whole picture.

i've heard during the BET awards that jay-z kept him from doing his MJ tribute, and i, for one, am happy he did. as well as beyonce joining w/him and saying they wouldn't preform if he did.

it's like giving a spoiled brat what he wants when he REALLY doesn't deserve it.
i don't care how much MJ did chis justice, to me he didn't learn his lesson and didn't desrve that honor.

now, TMZ spotted him @ beyonce's concert after she dissed him during the BET awards...and now this "apology".

i'm sorry, but i'm not buying it. and not only that, but when i mention that or see people commenting on the matter, i see girls saying that, "chris brown is still my hubby." or "that b**** deserved it"...really?? so i can see YOU wouldn't mind getting pimp-slapped and running back to your man.

i have heard girls in my class talk about times their boyfriends hit 'em like it was nothing.
smiling, laughing...like they were talking about a recent trip to the mall.

if you girls out there that are sticking up for chris brown just on the meer fact that you think that, "the b**** deserved it"...even if she hit him, you girls need to gain some dignity.
you know guys hit MUCH harder than girls-he's the one who lost control and went insane.

shoot...even bit the girl!

if you still decide to stick up for him, have fun constantly holding a bag of ice to your body parts.

Hello, My Name is: Artsy

i've decided that since i'm gonna use a planner
during my senior year,

i will pimp it out w/a hand-drawn collage!

i'll put anything i can think of on it that i like:
the balloons from, "Up", a girl blowing a bubble, the kanye glasses, a pokeball...

...so much more to figure out to add to my "random" college.

i can't wait to get started!
